Mark Constandse, sun of a antropologist,
was into eastern European Balkan gypsy music. Combined with the free almost
improvising noise aproach of the Vibes and the pulsating rythms of the
sequencer resulted in a weird kind of new music
"Transparent passing" cd "98.
At the same time Wally and Moniek had a 2 year lasting project with Willem
Cramer ,welknown for his work with "East
meets west" and "Cobraz"
(colaboration with Spasmodique singer
Mark Ritsema), called "Z-device".
A bizarre mix of sequencers, percussion and noise.
That year ('97) they played one of the headlining acts at the "Sziget
festival" in Budapest, Hungary and loads of concerts in London and
England were they felt at home because of the total free spirit they experienced
in a sort of musicians collective in the south part of London. They or-ganised
concerts, happenings and festivals in cooperation with "Bastard
haircut records",
"The brain of morbius",
"Baby trio",
Charles Hayward,
known for his work with "This
heat", and many more. In 1999 Wally
and Moniek decided to stop touring and travelling for a while (the've
been doin' it non stop for over 10 years) went back to their hometown
Rotterdam and saw the birth of their daughter alicia, born at the end
of 1999. After 15 years of playing together they felt like (after one
year of) they had the knowlidge and experience to jump into the adventure
of being a duo. The've played occasional duo concerts before, and allways
seem to come out on top. After creating their own homestudio in their
house in Rotterdam, and dumping the sequencer they star-ted working on
the next release, "Tranquileyes"
cd '01. 5 duets for electric guitar and
bass. Followed after 3 years of touring with a baby in "The
livingroom recordings" cd '04. were
they started to get more and more into improvisation avant-garde music.
Followed a year later with "A depraved
scent of brussels sprouts over Holland"
cd '05. A response to what they see as being a dreadfull conservative
cultural and political climat in Holland and the rest of the western world.
Were making money is number one and being creative is second place. And
now in 2008 two new releases "(...is
your...) Mind free" studio-cd &
"Live @ radio Funkwelle" Berlin.
avant-jazz/noise with a slight etnic touch. As the Vibes grow older and
see the birth of their second daughter, Mila, their music gets more and
more subtle but doesn't lose it's edge. And the impressive hectic stage
act never seems to stop. Mp3 of these latest works on the recordings
